How to Install SillyTavern on Android, Windows, Mac and iPhone (2026 Guide)

SillyTavern is a free app for chatting and roleplaying with AI characters. You run it once, then use it in your browser at http://127.0.0.1:8000. It has no AI of its own, so after installing you connect a model such as Gemini, Claude or DeepSeek.

Pick your device

Android

Install Termux from F-Droid (the Play Store version is too old), open it, and run:

curl -fsSL https://rolezy.com/st | bash

When it finishes, open http://127.0.0.1:8000 in Chrome. The Android guide covers starting it again and updating.

Windows

Install Node.js (LTS) and Git for Windows. In the folder where you want SillyTavern, open a terminal and run:

git clone https://github.com/SillyTavern/SillyTavern -b release

Open the new SillyTavern folder and double-click Start.bat. Your browser opens SillyTavern by itself.

Mac and Linux

With Node.js and Git installed:

git clone https://github.com/SillyTavern/SillyTavern -b release
cd SillyTavern
./start.sh

iPhone and iPad

iOS can't run SillyTavern on the phone, so you use a hosted one in Safari:

• Rolezy is free and runs on a shared server.
• Rolezy Plus is your own quieter copy for 49 THB.

A new SillyTavern can't reply until you connect a model. A free Gemini key is the quickest start. Follow Connect SillyTavern to an AI, then set up your first chat.

Questions

Is SillyTavern free?

Yes. You might pay for the AI model you connect, though Gemini and some OpenRouter models have free tiers.

Release or staging?

release is stable. staging gets new features first and breaks more often. The Rolezy Android installer uses staging unless you add --branch release.

Can I use the same chats on my phone and computer?

A local install keeps chats on that one device. To use the same chats everywhere, use a hosted SillyTavern like Rolezy Plus.
